Privacy policy

climate-zone.com provides free public climate information. We try to collect as little personal information about you as we can, and to be clear about what we do collect, why, and who else sees it. This page explains exactly that.

Last updated: 20 May 2026.

Who we are

"climate-zone.com" (also referred to as "we", "us", "the site") is operated by the owner of the domain climate-zone.com. For privacy questions, contact us at [email protected].

What we collect

Information you give us directly

The site has no account system and no forms that collect personal information today. If you contact us by email we keep that message for as long as needed to reply. We do not add you to any mailing list.

Information collected automatically

Cookies and consent

The only cookies the site sets without asking are strictly necessary cookies used for the consent banner itself and for basic site functionality. Anything that profiles you for advertising — Google AdSense personalisation, Google Analytics tracking — is only enabled after you grant consent through the consent banner.

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, or a U.S. state that requires opt-in consent (e.g. California's CPRA), the consent banner appears on your first visit. You can change your choices any time by clicking the "Privacy choices" link in the footer.

You can also disable cookies in your browser settings. The site will continue to work; some features (advertising, personalised analytics) will simply not load.

Who sees your information

We do not sell, rent or trade personal information. The following processors handle data on our behalf:

Each of these vendors has their own privacy policy, linked above. We do not transfer your data to any other party except as required by law.

Your rights

Wherever you are, you may contact us at [email protected] to ask what information we hold about you, request a copy, request deletion, or correct it. We will respond within a reasonable time — typically within 30 days.

If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, you also have the rights laid out by the GDPR: access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, portability, and objection. The legal basis for our processing is either your consent (advertising / analytics) or our legitimate interest in operating a public website (server logs, security).

If you are a California resident, the CCPA / CPRA gives you the right to know what personal information we collect, request deletion, opt out of sale or sharing of personal information, and not be discriminated against for exercising those rights. We do not sell personal information for money, but advertising cookies can amount to "sharing" under California law — declining consent in the banner stops that.

Data retention

Children

The site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with information, please contact us and we will delete it.

International transfers

Our processors (Cloudflare, Google, InMobi) operate globally. Your data may be processed in countries other than your own, including the United States. Where required, transfers are governed by Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent legal mechanisms.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent change. Material changes will be highlighted in the footer for a period after the change.
