These terms govern your use of climate-zone.com. By using the site you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.
Last updated: 20 May 2026.
What the site is
climate-zone.com is a free public reference site for climate normals, climate-zone classifications, weather extremes and related computed products. The data comes from public meteorological sources — see the Methodology & data sources page for the full list.
Your licence to use the site
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to access and view the site for your own non-commercial reference. You may share individual pages or quote brief excerpts with attribution.
You agree not to:
- Scrape, crawl, mirror or bulk-download the site or its underlying data without our
prior written consent. (Search-engine crawlers respecting
robots.txtare welcome.) - Use automated tools to make requests at a rate that materially burdens the site or interferes with other users.
- Reproduce, redistribute or republish substantial portions of the site as your own product.
- Remove, obscure or alter attribution or source notices.
- Use the site for any unlawful purpose or to harass or defraud anyone.
If you want to use the data in a way these terms don't allow — research, journalism, a derivative product — please contact us at [email protected]. We're usually happy to help.
Underlying data sources
Most of the source data on the site is in the public domain (NOAA, NASA, U.S. government works) or under open licences. Some national sources (JMA, INMET, SMN, SENAMHI, ECCC, etc.) have their own redistribution terms. We comply with each source's requirements. If you reuse data that originated from any of these agencies, you remain responsible for complying with their terms — see Methodology & data sources for source-specific requirements.
No warranty
The site is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the information is accurate, complete, current, or suitable for any particular purpose. See the Disclaimer for the specific climate-data caveats.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, climate-zone.com and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenue, data or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of the site — even if we were advised of the possibility of such damages.
Our total cumulative liability to you for any cause of action shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) US$100.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless climate-zone.com and its operators from any claim, loss, liability or expense arising from your use of the site in violation of these terms or applicable law.
Changes to the site or these terms
We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of the site at any time, with or without notice. We may also update these terms; the "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the new terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws provisions. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Michigan.
