Medicine Hat has a strongly seasonal cold-temperate climate (Cold semi-arid, Köppen BSk). The hottest month is July with an average daily high near 28°C, while the coldest is February averaging around −13°C at night. Precipitation totals about 324 mm a year and is strongly seasonal — June alone averages 73 mm while December barely receives 12 mm. Light snow accumulates each winter (54 cm of snow per year on average). At latitude 50°N, day length swings from 7.9 hours in midwinter to 16.1 hours at midsummer.

Temperature & precipitation — 1991–2020 normals computed from 20 years of daily observations at Medicine Hat Rcs, a weather station, about 3 km from the city centre. The underlying daily records come from NOAA's global station network.
Cloud, humidity, wind & sunshine — modelled estimates from NASA POWER, NASA's satellite-and-reanalysis climatology. This is the standard global source for atmospheric variables, which are not measured at most weather stations.
